Feed-in Tariff

What is the Feed-in Tariff Scheme?

In April 2010, the Government launched the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme to encourage homes and businesses to generate their own renewable, low carbon electricity using solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, wind turbines or other renewable technologies. Economy Energy, amongst other suppliers, will make a payment to customers who generate their own energy, subject to them meeting certain criteria. Customers can have their Electricity and Gas supply from any Energy supplier and are not required to change suppliers for their FiT account. The customer will have the same tariff rate for their FiT account regardless of the supplier who administrates the payments, this is because the scheme is operated by Ofgem.
