Can I pay straight from my benefits?

If you get Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Pension Credit, you can pay your fuel arrears direct from your benefit payments.

The scheme means that the Department for Work and Pensions will decide how much you should pay, then automatically take money from your benefit to pay for the energy you use whilst also paying off your debt. This scheme is called Fuel Direct. The amount deducted will be paid directly to us and will be used to pay off your outstanding balance (you will still need to pay for your ongoing usage). To arrange this, talk to your local JobCentre Plus – find out how here.
